log 2.0: It's October! The month of ghouls, goblins, and horror stories.

Well, do we have a scary problem for you! Check it out.

+problem:

Ever get trapped in subscription hell?

Yeah, us too. Between work, life, and remembering where we put our keys, those sneaky monthly charges slip right past us.

Then we spot them on our statement.

Now we're mentally kicking ourselves and have to suffer through another billing cycle because we forgot to cancel.

Again.

And actually canceling? That's its own special nightmare. Days spent waiting for customer service, followed by a flurry of questions:

"Are you absolutely sure you want to cancel?"

"How about we pause your account instead?"

"What if we gave you 50% off for three months?"

"Do you want to take a subscription breather and think about it?"

No, thank you, sir, ma’am, chatbot, I just want to GET OUT.

+design solution:

SaaS-C is a little Firefox extension we built (with help from Claude.ai) to address the problem.

Here's how it works: When you're on a subscription sign-up page, launch SaaS-C, and it automatically scans for trial end dates and billing dates. Confirm the correct date, select your preferred calendar, and it adds an ICS file with reminders set for 4 days, 2 days, and 1 day before.

Think of it as your personal subscription bodyguard. It catches those dates before they slip through the cracks, so you’re less likely to get blindsided by charges later on down the line.

+trials: We tested SaaS-C 10 times starting in February 2025. The models kept getting better, and by our final trial in September 2025, we had a working temporary Firefox extension that pretty much did what we wanted with Apple iCal.

+results:

We tested SaaS-C on Casting Networks subscription and billing page.

+nice to have:

-We’re sharing our Claude artifact publication link here:

-We welcome any improvements to this extension, such as:

  • having it work on other browsers

  • creating an extension that works like Rocket Money to cancel subscriptions (that would be awesome),

Feel free to leave helpful comments on how to improve this sassy little tool.

With SaaS-C,scary subscriptions begone!!

Happy Halloween!
